This beautiful and academically strong course covers phonics, reading, spelling, grammar, punctuation, literature, art appreciation, writing, and geography. With beautiful literature, magnificent art, and connected learning, this open-and-go course book guides parents and students through the lessons. Each lesson also contains independent work for the child, guiding children through learning and review in an enjoyable, engaging way.
The Level 2 Personal Reader, Level 2 Shared Reader, and Phonics Cards are also needed to complete the course.
Children are prompted when to read sections of the 314-page Personal Reader during independent practice, and they do exercises and activities that correlate with the books in the reader, including reading comprehension exercises.
Integrated with the Level 2 Course Book lessons, the 152-page Level 2 Shared Reader is filled with 5 stories from different genres that are studied throughout the course.
These phonics cards include not only phonograms (letters or letter combinations that represent a sound) but also common word families so students can quickly learn to recognize and read word patterns.
Note: the same set of phonics cards are used for Levels K–2, with the child learning a certain number of the cards during each level. The cards are required to complete the course.
Handwriting Level 2 is for children in second or third grade. This course is for children with some handwriting experience who are still working on correct print formation of letters and numbers. Words, sentences, Bible verses, and poems are introduced part-way through the course. Text size is eventually reduced in the course as children gain experience with handwriting. This course also helps children learn to spell the names of colors and reviews the spelling of numbers.
